Google rolls out passkey support across accounts on all major platforms

Google has begun rolling out support for passkeys across Google Accounts on all major platforms, adding a new sign-in option that can be used alongside passwords and two-step verification. The tech giant announced passkey availability on the eve of World Password Day as it looks to introduce more secure, reliable sign-in options.

The rollout comes in the wake of Google updates on bringing passkey experiences to both Chrome and Android, as well as tech industry support for a common passwordless sign-in standard created by the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium.

US healthcare benefits management system provider discloses data breach

Since April 28, HealthPlan Services, Inc (HPS) has been notifying customers of a
data breach affecting sensitive personal and health information of an
undisclosed number of policyholders.

HPS is one of the largest independent providers of technology solutions for
managing healthcare benefits in the US.

oneM2M IoT security specifications granted ITU approval

The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) has approved a set of security specifications for internet of things (IoT) systems. The oneM2M specifications define a common set of IoT service functions to enable secure data exchange and information interoperability across different vertical sectors, service providers, and use cases. The specifications were approved by more than 190 countries and are now available for use by ITU-T member states.

The ITU-T is responsible for coordinating standards for telecommunications and information communication technology for cybersecurity. It is one of the three branches of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations that oversees matters relating to information and communication technologies.
