- The Garmin inReach Messenger Plus is a satellite communicator that’s great for going off the grid, and it’s currently at its all-time low price of $349 ($150 off) at Amazon, Walmart, and REI. The Messenger Plus can connect to the Iridium satellite network for global SOS, location sharing, and photo and voice messaging, so you can send a selfie to a loved one to let them know you’re ok. The richer context makes the Messenger Plus a nice upgrade over something like the Garmin inReach Mini 2, which only supports text, so long as you’re willing to pay the $7.99 per month subscription fee.
- If you’ll be on the trail when it’s dark, you’re going to need a headlamp. Luckily, the BioLite Range 500 Headlamp is on sale for around $52.39 (about $18 off) at REI and BioLite’s online storefront.
