UK Authorities Use Fake DDOS-for-Hire Sites to Infiltrate Cybercriminal Underground

The U.K. National Crime Agency (NCA) used a bold strategy to infiltrate and
disrupt underground criminal operations: setting up several fake DDoS-for-hire
sites to dupe unsuspecting cybercrooks.

Threat actors often turn to DDoS-for-hire services, also known as ‘booters,’ to
launch devastating distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against their
targets. Booters are especially popular among novice hackers who lack the
resources or knowledge to carry out high-profile attacks.
